Why your statistics do not see them
Most measurement tools work through a script placed in the page. An AI agent reads the page without running that script: it leaves no trace in these tools.
It does go through your server, however. Its visit is in your server or CDN logs.

Each agent presents itself with a name. They do not all do the same thing:

The closest thing to a purchase is the live question: someone is waiting for an answer, now.
How to spot fake agents
An agent’s name is a simple line of text: any bot can write it. To know whether it is the real one, you have to compare its address with those published by its operator, visit by visit.
These lists need attention. In our tests, one operator’s list of bots did not cover all its addresses: its real agent looked like a fake.
And people sent by an AI?
These are not agents, but visitors who click in an answer. Some can be spotted by the origin of the visit, or by a marker in the address, such as utm_source=chatgpt.com.
In a test on our demonstration shop, the person clicked 16 to 42 seconds after ChatGPT read the page. This short gap makes it possible to link a visit to the reading before it, without following anyone.
