What is agentic commerce?
An AI agent is an assistant, such as ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity, that acts for someone. Ask it for a warm winter coat: it reads product pages, compares them and suggests an answer.
Today, the customer usually keeps the last word: they click and buy on your website. The next step is the agent going all the way to payment. According to InMobi, 36% of US shops are already ready for a complete purchase by an agent (October 2026).
What the figures say
Adobe measured visits by people referred by an AI to US retailers:
- +393% visits in the first quarter of 2026, year on year.
- 42% higher conversion than other visits, in March 2026.
- 37% more revenue per visit, at the same date.
- 48% more time spent on the website.
These figures describe growth on the US market, not yet a volume. It is the right time to measure yours.
What changes for an online shop
A customer sees your page once it has loaded. An agent often reads it in a single request, without running the page’s scripts. If the price or stock appear afterwards, it can leave without them.
You do not see it either: measurement tools that work through a script in the page do not count a visitor who does not run that script.
Finally, not everything that presents itself as ChatGPT is ChatGPT: bots borrow its name.
What to do now
Three steps are enough to start:
- See which agents already come to your website.
- Check what they receive on your product pages.
- Measure the visitors they bring you, and the sales that follow.
That is the job of Qommis, at the entrance of your website: it recognises agents, verifies their identity, completes pages without a price on request and measures every visit.
